Leo was rescued from a shelter in Georgia. At 12 weeks old, he was diagnosed with FIP (Feline Infection Peritonitis) and underwent six months of treatment. Today, he is fully recovered and gets all the snacks he wants!

FIP is a feline coronavirus (FCoV) that, previously, was a death sentence for cats. As of 2024, new treatments were approved that increased survival rates to 86-96% with an 80% remission rate.

Hobbes was found abandoned in a dumpster behind a restaurant at just four weeks old. He spent his first weeks in foster care growing strong, and at 12 weeks old came home where he belonged.

He wasn’t alone for long. Onyx had arrived six weeks before - still finding his footing and deciding if home was safe. Hobbes changed that. The two became fast “brothers,” bonded in the quiet way only cats understood. To this day, you’ll find them curled together in a patch of afternoon sun - proof that the right company makes everything feel like home.

Onyx was pressed into the back corner of his kennel the day we met him. He’d been there so long that every sta member knew him by name. Beneath all that anxiety was a cat who simply hadn’t been shown yet that the world could be safe. We brought Onyx home after losing Toluca, our cat of 19 years. For weeks he lived under the bed, only venturing out when he thought no one was looking— bolting back upstairs the moment he was seen.

Then Hobbes arrived, small and fearless, and something shifted. These days, Onyx is chatty, petable, and fully at home. Though he’ll still disappear if things get too loud.

Toluca came home as a kitten and simply never left our side. Quietly watchful, and endlessly patient — She was there through every chapter of our family growing up around her. No dramatic rescue, no hard road. Just 19 years of steady, unconditional presence. She tolerated the noise and chaos of young kids with grace, through she had her limits — and wasn’t shy about letting you know when you’d crossed them.

Toluca doesn’t need a big story. She IS the story. And somewhere, we’re certain, she’s still holding her spot.
